In Avengers: Endgame, for the last time we saw all OG Avengers coming together. Actor Chris Evans bid goodbye to Captain America/Steve Rogers with this film. His contract with Marvel ended last year and so does his journey as Cap.

Last year, during a chat session with his co-star Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evan was asked if he would return as Captain America. He gave a hopeful answer at that time. The Defending Jacob actor said, “It’s not a hard no, but it’s not an eager yes either. Recovery is not the same. You never say never. I love the character. I don’t know.”

However, the actor has now confirmed that he won’t play Captain America again. As reported by Digital Spy, on May 29, on The Graham Norton Show, Chris Evans was asked if Avengers: Endgame is the end for Steve Rogers and Cap. The Defending Jacob actor answered, “Yes – I think it is. It was a great run and we went out on such a high note that it would be risky to revisit it in my opinion.”

Evans added, “It was such a good experience and I think it’s better left that way.”

This news is quite a heartbreak to all the fans who were hoping that he will return to MCU. In Avengers: Endgame, in the end, Steve Rogers goes back in time to place the infinity stones. He returns as an old Rogers as he gives up on his superpowers. Steve passes on the mantle of Captain America to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson aka Falcon. Chris Evans’ character also gives away his shield to Falcon.
